| | Cooler than the original. Cocoa, great aqua interface, fast as all get out, and even has the version number in plain sight! And all this from an "old school Mac OS Classic company"?! Whod'a thunk it?

| | I used Grab for hundreds of screen shots in "Mac OS X For Dummies." It wasn't easy and it wasn't fun and I hated the requisite pixel editing in Photoshop. So, at least for me, Snapz Pro X is a dream come true. If you need to capture screens, there's nothing else like it.
 - Bob "Dr. Mac" LeVitus |
| | Snapz is the best, most versatile, and easiest to use still and video capturing utility I have ever seen for the Mac. I wish I had known about Ambrosia 2 years ago while I was writing my dissertation and needed many screen captures for different chapters. Thanks for making such a useful and powerful tool for the Mac world!
 - Moin Vera |
| | Snapz Pro has been my favorite screen capture utility for as long as I've known about it. I look forward to using the X version. I teach Photoshop and Snapz Pro is invaluable to me for getting all those hard-to-get menus and dialog boxes
 - George Fox |
| | I downloaded Snapz Pro X about ten minutes ago, and after using it for moments I knew I had to buy it. This has got to be the single best, most true-to-the-OSX-experience app I've ever seen to date. I'm truly in awe. Apple should sit down and study Snapz for pointers on how THEIR apps should work

| | Snapz Pro is the best little utility I have ever used. I depend on it, and when I switched over to OSX I felt lost within days! Thank you for your hard work and creativity.
 - Kathryn Whitaker |
| | As always for your products, Snapz Pro X is awesome. You have created a very unique, thoughtfully designed and very efficient interface for capturing media. Thanks for your work.
 - Bob Kerstetter |
| | Thanks for the code, John. I immediately went to work and created 5 QuickTime instructional videos in about 2 hours. Flawless (the product, not my videos)--a great product worth every penny. If only all software were this good.
 - Arnie Keller |
| | I used SnapzPro all day long when on OS9, but OSX, I have been using GRAB because I didn't have the funds to upgrade. Today, however, someone mentioned Snapz on the CocoaDev list and I decided to take a look at the site. I saw all the incredible advances you've made. I decided I had to update! Great work!!!!
 - Kevin Conner |
| | Thank you for your help. I decided to bite the bullet and update. I found the place on your site where I could update v.2 w/movie for only $20. Worth every penny. I use it in so many ways - only wish I had more time to do more with it.
 - Debbie Miller |
| | I was recently assigned a task of making an instructional demo movie for our software, and your solution Snapz Pro X 2 turned out to be the best one I tried (and I tried quite a few). I was able to record the audio from the software, my own voice, and capture a great looking screen movie in just a week's time. I will now be creating more and more of these in the future thanks to you. You can see the results here on our home page. Our customers are raving about it.

| | Hi Guys. I run a high traffic online tutorial site for Apple Pro Apps and I have been using your software for 3 years. Nothing prepared me for what I just experienced when I upgraded to version 2. I was blown away. Your engineers should be given an all expense paid trip to Hawaii immediately. I have not been this excited about a product in a long time. Great job.
 - Steve Martin |
| | Since moving to this latest version I can't believe how much I can do with it with absolute ease. Great product, and I thought it would be hard to top the original OS9 version. Yet again Ambrosia has made me a happy Mac user.
 - Dennis Harrington |
| | thanks for one of my all-time favourite Mac utilities!!
 - Martin Sammtleben |
| | I haven't used Snapz Pro X for very long, but from what I've experienced so far, it's ease of use, reasonable price, and ESPECIALLY the fact that your software doesn't add any funky "watermarks" or limits how-much or how long of footage I can capture, I thought that ALONE was WORTH paying the registration for --- just for the old-fashioned TRUST your company has given me... I've already tried a few trial programs that do the same, but what pissed me off about the others is the LIMITS some of these software makers put on their products -- which means I could NOT TEST out how good the "full-version" works without having to PAY for it first... so I looked elsewhere until I found your Snapz Pro X.. I certainly hope it keeps working as well as it does for a long time to come... Thanks,
 - Ron Reyes |
| | The movie function has taken a quantum leap in power with the upgrade to Tiger. Running Panther, on my dual 2.0 G5 I was hard pressed to record from a flight simulator application (X-Plane) at 640X480 @ 12fps without stuttering or drop-outs. Now I get a perfect rendition at 1024X768 @ 30fps ! I'm very happy now. Great product!
 - Al Reivitis |
| | When I do staff training, I get carried away and talk too much! With Snapz Pro I can capture a movie of my computer screen and what it is I'm trying to cover and it tends to be more concise!
Plus, I can burn the movies to a CD for use later! The ability to capture images of menu use is also an added benefit.
 - Virgil Cameron |
| | My favorite feature of Snapz is the digital purity. With version 2, I can now capture full-screen demonstrations for my students at frame rates of 30 frames per second. And that digital purity allows me to achieve unmatched compression. Movies made with Snapz are perfect digital copies of what I do on my Mac. There is no better tool to capture my screen for use in handouts. Snapz lets me grab anything, even open menus. It raises my textbooks to a more professional level. I can't imagine teaching without Snapz in my arsenal. Snapz Pro X 2.0 with movie capture more than replaces traditional scan converters costing 20 times as much while offering superior quality and reduced file size. Amazing. It is amazing how many new features Ambrosia squeezed into Snapz X Pro 2: improved interface, preview mode, a blazing capture engine in movie mode, and support for multiple users. They should have called this version Snapz 3.
 - Professor Scott B. Chandler |
| | The new Snapz Pro has improved the quality of our productions and saved us hours of work in post production because we can snap true frame rates from the screen even in demanding video applications. The new interface is a joy to work with - in many of little ways it saves time every day. It's true to say that it's making us a lot of money.
 - Philip Hodgetts, President of Intelligent Assistance, Inc. |
| | The seamless, effortless and stunning captures make it one the most important training production tools available...period. The price makes it perfect for so much more...
 - Alex Lindsay |
| | I was recently assigned a task of making an instructional demo movie for our software, and your solution Snapz Pro X 2 w/ Movie Capture turned out to be the best one I tried (and I tried quite a few). I was able to record the audio from the software, my own voice, and capture a great looking screen movie in just a week's time. A five minute movie at 15 FPS down to 12 MB. Awesome!

| | Just wanted to say how amazing Snapz Pro X is. I am awestruck. There are so many uses for designers, teachers, audio/visual pros.... I can't wait to try it out with my clients. Absolutely amazing stuff. Don't mistake my effusiveness for sarcasm, I really am blown away.

| | Aloha Ambrosia,
Thank you for Snapz Pro X 2!
I have been in digital video since the 1980's, and I have rarely been happy with the stability and performance of any product the first time around. Usually there are pitfalls in every dialogue box. A crash in every corner.
Now I am making instructional video's for my own software, and I turned to your Snapz Pro X 2 with Quicktime movie capture after unsatisfactory results using other methods. At first I thought the cost was a little high for a simple
utility. Now I am sure you have it about right!
The time and frustration avoided by using Snapz Pro is worth its cost every hour.
Snapz Pro is so simple to use that I never had to look for instructions, and so perfect in its recording of screen video and audio, that I am embarrassed to think I considered regular video equipment.
Mahalo!

| | The usefulness of Snapz Pro X is already enough to garner a 5 out of 5, but the program goes beyond that. This isn't just an update to Snapz Pro 2, it's a major overhaul. It's proof that by paying proper attention to OS X's power and interface, Apple's new OS offers programmers the ability to make Classic a distant memory. Snapz Pro X is fast, it's elegant, and it's sturdy. It's everything OS X claimed to be even before OS X got there itself.

| | Snapz Pro X continues the tradition of its Classic counterpart: the be-all and end-all of screen capture utilities on the Mac. The program puts Apple's "Grab" utility to shame, and other developers should look to Snapz Pro X for a template of how to successfully bring a Mac OS 9 product to the new operating system.

| | This product is a perfect example of the type of application MacOSX users are demanding. Snapz Pro has all the features expected of it by OSX and OS 9 users, alike. It has a great interface with plenty of options and becomes an absolute must have for anyone using MacOSX. Ambrosia has led the way and soon other developers may follow. This near-flawless and indispensable product may be the first of a new generation of “killer apps” for OSX.

| | As a writer and presenter, no other "screen" utility offers the power and
flexibility to capture exactly what I want, how I want, and when I want it.
And if you need to record onscreen video, the movie functionality alone is
worth twice the price.
Snapz Pro X 2 sets a new standard. Even my Windows friends are jealous.

| | To cut a long story short, let me tell you that my first movie capture of a PowerPoint presentation with Snapz Pro X exceeded my expectations. I even played it on Windows using the QuickTime Player and it was smoother than any other presentation capture that I had done on that platform.

| | This is one very cool program. I’ve been playing with Snapz Pro X for a couple weeks now and I’m using it more and more everyday. Sure, OS X comes with Grab for taking screen shots, but it’s pretty basic in function. Snapz Pro X is full-featured and then some. If you take a lot of screen grabs - or even if you don’t like me - you need to try Snapz Pro X. If you do any kind of documentation or presentations, this program will really enhance the finished look of your documents with no additional time on your part.

| | In three words: "flawless movie capture."
Three more words: "excellent interface design,"
and three concluding words: "a great value!!!"
Andrew Welch's fantastic SnapzProX, besides expertly relying heavily for its title on two of the lesser used members of the alphabet, is the ultimate screen capture utility. While many other inexpensive utilities approach SnapzProX's ease of use, nothing at this price comes close in the smooth capture of moving elements.
An essential tool for digital communicators!

| | Grab and Mac OS X's built-in screen capture capabilities are great free tools if you take a screen shot every now and then, but if your needs are more demanding, then I recommend you check out Snapz Pro X from Ambrosia Software. Billed as "the professional's screen capture tool," they ain't kidding. It costs $69, but it's worth every penny. In addition to offering a wide array of options for static screen shots (eight file formats, scaling, cropping, dithering, borders, thumbnails, watermarks, etc.), Snapz Pro X can also capture full motion video, which is great for creating tutorials. Best of all, Snapz Pro X features a streamlined user interface that presents its many options clearly, but without getting in the way, which is important when you rely upon it like I do to help produce books and documentation.

| | These days you need to be on the cutting edge to get noticed in the online world. Take podcasting for example, it’s not enough to have an audio podcast anymore, you need an enhanced podcast with slides or screenshots to go with your audio. Better then that you need to be making video casts with video to go with the audio. Other then using a digicam or iSight to capture your video, the best alternative for the podcaster that looks like me is to motion screen capture your review or demo product. With the Mac platform we are very lucky to have the king of screen capture available to us, Ambrosia Software’s Snapz Pro X 2.0.

| | One of the more rewarding aspects of reviewing software is the rare occurrence when you come across an application that you know will change the way you use your computer. I had of course heard of Ambrosia Software’s Snapz Pro X 2.0.2 screen capturing software, but I had never really thought of it as a “must-have” application. After all, OS X comes with its own screen capturing utility “Grab”, as well as the keyboard shortcuts of Command+Shift+3 and Command+Shift+4 for capturing the whole screen and region/window, respectively. Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free? Well, this cow can make cookie dough ice cream and low-fat chocolate yogurt in addition to milk, that’s why.
